Traveling to Ethiopia with Medan Initiative was one of the most humbling and life-changing experiences we’ve ever had. As part of the non-medical support team, we assisted with fluoride treatments, height and weight checks, and hearing tests—simple tasks that carried deep meaning when done in the context of Medan’s mission to bring care and dignity to every child.
One moment we’ll never forget was seeing a little girl joyfully running through the schoolyard—full of life and laughter—knowing that just two years ago, she was unable to walk independently. We also had the privilege of visiting the homes of two students. Despite having so few material resources, their families radiated joy, warmth, and pride. Those visits reminded us how much strength and beauty exist even in the most difficult circumstances.
This journey showed us what’s possible when compassion meets consistency. Medan’s work is not about quick fixes—it’s about lasting partnerships, empowerment, and honoring the worth of every child. Being a small part of this mission was truly an honor and a privilege—one that will stay with us always.
